Operations / PRACTICAL NOTE

Three questions for order follow-up: status, source, next step.

A status summary becomes useful when its evidence and owner are clear.

Keep status connected to its source.

Is the fabric ready? Is approval complete? What remains for shipment? Make the document or authorised update behind each answer visible, including when it was updated.

Describe risk alongside the next action.

“Delivery at risk” is not enough on its own. What is missing, who will confirm it and by when? In an initial test, follow three critical pieces of information for one active order using this structure.

Separate commitments from forecasts.

A new forecast does not automatically replace a customer commitment. Record plan revisions, assumptions and the authorised decision separately.
